VISTA – Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a hit-and-run driver tonight who killed a man in a wheelchair in a Vista crosswalk.
Deputies and paramedics immediately performed CPR on he 43-year-old male, but he died at the scene.
The fatal collision happened just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Vista Village and Wave Drive.
According to deputies, the man was crossing the crosswalk in his wheelchair when he was hit by the driver who proceeded to take off.
Based on the evidence and debris left at the scene, authorities are looking for a 1990s model GMC SUV. Anyone with information is encouraged to report their findings to law enforcement.
