Car Crashes into Building and Catches Fire, Driver Flees

April 24, 2019
Kearny Mesa – A motorist crashed a car into a defense contractor building in a possible intentional act, authorities say.
Dispatchers received a call around 2:30 AM from a person who reported a vehicle on fire outside the Raytheon building just east of Kearny Villa Road, San Diego police said.
The sedan, a reported-stolen Toyota Prius with mismatched plates, slammed into the Raytheon Integrated Defense building and burst into flames.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found a Toyota crashed into the building and engulfed in flames.
Firefighters put out the flames, but the fire caused minor damage to the building, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said.
No injuries were reported.
The Toyota driver fled the scene before police arrived and no description of the motorist was immediately available.
Investigators with the FBI, the city’s Metro Arson Strike Team, and San Diego police all were looking into the fiery crash.
