Interstate 5 Speed Reduced for Three Years

DIEGO – Starting today motorists will have to drive a little slower on a
section of Interstate 5 on the North County coastline for the next three years.
Officials
announced yesterday that the temporary speed limit reduction will take place on a
stretch of Interstate 5 where carpool lanes are currently under construction.
The
speed limit will be reduced from 65 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour
starting today in both directions of Interstate 5 between Manchester Avenue in
Encinitas and Palomar Airport Road.
The
lower speed limit will remain in place until the carpool lane project is
completed.
