Interstate 5 Speed Reduced for Three Years

SAN DIEGO – Starting today motorists will have to drive a little slower on a section of Interstate 5 on the North County coastline for the next three years.

Officials announced yesterday that the temporary speed limit reduction will take place on a stretch of Interstate 5 where carpool lanes are currently under construction.

The speed limit will be reduced from 65 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour starting today in both directions of Interstate 5 between Manchester Avenue in Encinitas and Palomar Airport Road.

The lower speed limit will remain in place until the carpool lane project is completed.
